Hi
Just rebuilt a Tamiya bigwig, fully ballraced and greased etc, but connect a battery to the motor and it runs flat out well, but there is really loud screaming noise... Low on experience of this chassis. Is this the norm??

The wise one answers:
Good choice of runner! Quite unusual to see them running actually! They should run smoothly and quiet as they share pretty much the same transmission components as the Boomerang, Hotshot, Supershot etc. A screaming noise normally means a gear not meshing propery and the first place to check is the pinion gear. If you have the wrong size pinion installed or the motor is not gapped correctly (with the set plates) then it could very well make this noise. It's not normal, if the car is slowing very quickly when you let the throttle off then it's more than likely too tight, otherwise too loose. If the pinion teeth are worn to a sharp peak it can also cause this and should be replaced.
