Hello Skid,
I've got a re-re Hornet, and I'm searching for a set of wheels and tires for onroard/all terrain use. I know of hex adaptors, but at first I want to give vintage Tamiya wheels a try.
1. Do the Buggy Champ 2009 tires fit on the Hornet's wheels? Which other Tamiya tires are compatible to the Hornet's wheels?
2. Which other Tamiya wheels and tires are compatible to the Hornet? I've seen Grasshoppers nicely fitted with Subaru Brat's wheels & tires.

The wise one answers:
The Buggy Champ/Rough Rider wheels won't fit straight onto the Hornet rims as they are larger in diameter. The Sand Scorcher ribbed rear tyres do fit straight on and the fronts are the same anyway. Having said that the Buggy Champ wheels fit straight on as do those off the Brat/Ford Ranger so if you change the wheels as well these are easy options. It's also possible using a Wild One wheels adapter to fit Wild One/Fox wheels and tyres straight on. I hope this helps! |
