Final king cab question for you kind sir....my new in packet Thorp ball diff arrived from Canada, whoo hoo, its pre assembled, and as its around twenty years old, would you advise me to strip it and regrease it with fresh ball diff grease?
I fear the old stuff might have perished, but if it hasn't (i have no clues as to how it fares over time, even without usage) then it'd be a case of 'if its not broke, don't try n fix it'd
Would you have any insight or advice please fella?
Thank you
The wise one answers:
Hmmm, if it feels smooth then i would risk the existing grease. The problem is that hardened grease will do it no good at all and then it will be hard to find replacement internals. I would say that if it feels ok then it probably is.
