Question: yo skid!, i am restoring a monster beetle at the mo, i am confused on the silver can motor, i have some with black ends and some are white ended. do you know if the colour of your end can, reflects it age/period??

The wise one answers:

Both are correct for the era and some would say the white ended motors are rarer. Many of the kits around this time had Johnson (white ended) motors instead of the black ended more commonly used Mabuchi motors. The motor supplied in a kit doesn't necessarily allow you to age it as I believe the white motors appeared in batches of kits throughout the vintage era and were not necessarily in old kits.
