Stig of the dump....

By Stevo309 - Monday 23rd August 2010

I went to the local tip (sorry recycling centre) yesterday to help my brother off load some rubbish and couldn't believe my eyes when i saw this monster beetle in the boot of someone's car on top of garden rubbish. The guy was about to throw it in the landfill skip!

When i asked if i could take it he was only too pleased to hand it over in the name of recycling! I'm still shocked now. It's really quite good. Body needs a respray and the tyres are rotted away and it needs a good clean but apart from that it looks like it's not seen much use and is all there including the original radio gear!

It makes you wonder what other Tamiya treasure gets chucked away on a daily basis it really does.

Best birthday present EVER!...

By moosey - Monday 26th July 2010

Well, I reached the good old age of 40 last week. Alison (my lady) went to great lengths to make it such a special time for me (thanks chuck, really does mean a lot to me) and to top it all off she had me this done... Lost for words! LOVE IT!!!!!

Well there it is, the new Holiday Buggy....

By Stevo309 - Tuesday 13th July 2010

Tamiya have now released this official image of the new DT02 Holiday Buggy and a suggested price of $147. Despite my previous posting following spy shots I actually quite like it. I know it's come under a lot of criticism but it is perhaps true to the spirit of the original as an entry level affordable and relatively simple machine with some good looks. It's hardly really a re-release in my view, no more than the Mountaineer body of the F350 chassis would be considered a re-release Mounty. My first Tamiya was a Holiday Buggy so it love it but the chassis was never very good, a modern chassis was always welcome but I just wish they had perhaps made the track a little narrower to sit the wheels under the arches a little more. I wonder if it's any easier to paint than the original!

Extreme Slash action!

By Stevo309 - Thursday 8th July 2010

As much as we love our Tamiyas sometimes it's nice to run something fast and very tough and for me the Traxxas Slash fits the bill as a quick, very tough and decent looking truck. This is my first "proper" outing with it. This is with 7.2v and the Traxxas Velineon Brushless system. Believe it or not despite this incredible abuse the only damage was 2 snapped battery packs that can be re-soldered and a bent rear shock rod! Amazing!

Massive thanks to Mark for putting the video together! Great stuff, as always!
